Galewela is a bustling town located in the Matale District of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. Historically, Galewela is believed to have been developed under the supervision of King Kashyapa, who cultivated the fertile lands around Sigiriya. The name "Galewela" is derived from the Sinhalese words "Welegala," meaning a rock in the paddy field, reflecting the area's agricultural roots.
